OPP officials allege: One person is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop on Moraviantown Delaware First Nation.
On January 7, 2026, at approximately 3:13 p.m., members of the Elgin County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop on Selton Line for a Highway Traffic Act violation. As a result of the investigation, police seized an estimated $16,000 worth of suspected cocaine and hydromorphone, along with a quantity of cannabis and a significant amount of Canadian currency.
A 46-year-old individual from Chatham-Kent has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking an opioid, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failure to comply with a release order, operation while prohibited, possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, permitting the use of an unauthorized plate, and driving while under suspension.
A 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as required by statute. The Middlesex-Elgin Community Street Crime Unit assisted in the investigation.
The accused was held for bail and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on January 8, 2026.
