Indecent act case update, more charges in home invasion investigation

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia police say an additional victim has been identified in an indecent act investigation, while also providing an update on a separate home invasion that occurred earlier this month.

Police said the indecent act involving the newly identified victim took place in September 2024 while the individual was working as a house cleaner at the accused’s residence. The 47-year-old victim reported that while performing her duties, she turned around and observed the accused standing nearby with his genitals exposed. A sexual remark was allegedly made, prompting the victim to gather her belongings and leave the residence. Police said the incident was not reported at the time due to embarrassment.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, a 28-year-old Sarnia man was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, and held for bail on an additional charge of indecent act under the Criminal Code.

In a separate investigation, police responded on Jan. 5 at approximately 7:45 p.m. to the 100 block of Christina Street South for a reported home invasion. Police said four individuals, described as two males and two females, allegedly forced their way into a residence and may have been armed with a firearm.

An update released by police said that on Jan. 9, members of the Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team and K9 unit, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a basement unit at the corner of Devine Street and Queen Street. As officers were preparing to execute the warrant, a suspect fled from a basement window. Police said a K9 officer initiated a track and the suspect was located a short time later.

A 28-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and held for bail in connection with the home invasion. Police said he faces charges including break and enter with intent, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a dangerous weapon, and multiple counts of failing to comply with court-ordered conditions. Police also said the individual was wanted on several outstanding warrants related to driving and probation offences. Following a bail hearing, he was remanded into custody.

The Sarnia Police Service is encouraging anyone who witnesses or experiences suspicious or inappropriate behaviour to report it as soon as possible. Police say prompt reporting plays an important role in community safety and supports successful investigations, and note that community resources are available for victims seeking support.
