Chatham man charged with impaired driving following collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been charged with impaired driving following a two-vehicle collision in the city.

Police said they responded on Jan. 10 to a collision on Grand Avenue East, where a vehicle stopped at a red light was struck. The driver responsible left the scene before officers arrived and no injuries were reported.

The driver was later located on Schooner Court and was found to be impaired, police said. Breath testing resulted in readings above the legal limit. The 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired operation and operation over 80 milligrams.

He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28.
