The Wallaceburg Branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library has announced a full slate of winter programs for children, families and adults, running from mid-January through early spring.
Weekly Storytime sessions are scheduled on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. from Jan. 15 to Feb. 19, and again from March 5 to April 9. The program features stories, songs and rhymes for children 18 months and older and their caregivers, with registration preferred but not required.
Adult programming includes an Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., where participants will create woven wall art. All supplies are provided and registration is required. The library will also host a Knitting and Crochet Club every Thursday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 p.m., offering a casual space to share patterns, skills and ideas, with no registration needed.
Family Literacy Week will be celebrated from Jan. 27 to Feb. 1 with drop-in activities during open hours. The theme focuses on making mealtime a family learning experience, with literacy-based games, crafts and challenges available at the branch.
The popular Spice Club returns with virtual sessions on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Tuesday, Feb. 24, both beginning at 7:05 p.m. Registered participants receive a spice kit that includes information, recipe cards and a sample, and are invited to join the discussion on Zoom.
Families can also take part in Wonderful Winter activities on Friday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring snow-themed crafts and a scavenger hunt. LEGO programs continue with drop-in creative play on Feb. 14 and March 14, along with visits from St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dogs on the same dates from 10 a.m. to noon.
Family Day will be marked on Monday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with games, LEGO, crafts and other activities. Beginning that day and running through March 31, the Library LEGO Checkout Club will encourage reading by offering ballots for a chance to win a LEGO set for every book borrowed.
Most programs are free, and many do not require registration. Residents are encouraged to contact the Wallaceburg Branch for details or to register where required.
