Chatham-Kent Public Library and Lambton County Library are inviting students and educators to take part in the third annual Clash of the Classrooms Reading Challenge, which returns this winter with prizes aimed at encouraging a love of reading.
The challenge runs from Feb. 2 to March 13 and is open to all classes from kindergarten through Grade 12, including homeschool groups and school libraries. Students and educators can track reading minutes completed both at home and in the classroom, with audiobooks, graphic novels and classroom read-alouds all counting toward totals.
Organizers say the program is designed to promote collaboration in classrooms while sparking enthusiasm for reading among students. Prizes will be awarded to top schools and educators, including a pizza party, the Clash Cup trophy and a $200 cash prize. Classes that register and log their reading minutes will also be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card.
Registration is now open, and more information about the Clash of the Classrooms Reading Challenge is available at www.ckpl.ca.
