Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham woman has been charged after a child was found home alone in Chatham Tuesday night.
Police attended a Chatham residence at approximately 11:16 p.m. on September 9, 2026 after receiving information that a child may have been left home alone.
Officers found the child alone in the unlocked residence with no supervision. A caregiver returned while police were on scene.
A 31-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and charged with abandoning a child.
She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and released on a Form 10 with a court date of December 8, 2026.
