Pedestrian killed in single-vehicle crash on Walpole Island First Nation

Walpole Island Police officials allege: Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Walpole Island First Nation.

Walpole Island Police Service officers, assisted by the Lambton County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Walpole Island Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, were called to Tecumseh Road at about 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 20 after a vehicle struck a pedestrian.

A 29-year-old individual from Walpole Island First Nation was taken to hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

Tecumseh Road has since reopened to traffic.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage from the area at the time to contact Walpole Island Police Service at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
