Chatham-Kent Public Library branches that are normally open on Mondays will be welcoming visitors on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 16, offering a full day of family-friendly programming and activities across the municipality.
The Chatham branch will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will host a Family Day Library Olympics, featuring Olympic-themed games, activities and crafts running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The branch is inviting residents of all ages to drop in throughout the day.
In Ridgetown, the library will be open from noon to 5 p.m. and is partnering with the Ridgetown District Agricultural Society to host a Story and Skate event at the Ridgetown Arena from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The Ridgetown and Highgate branches will also offer a Minute to Win It game day during their open hours on Family Day.
The Tilbury branch will be open from noon to 5 p.m. and will run a Seed Bombs program from 2 to 4 p.m., giving participants the chance to make seed balls using wildflower seeds.
In Wallaceburg, the library will offer Family Day activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including board games, LEGO, scavenger hunts and crafts, with programming open to all ages.
The Merlin branch will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. and will host board games and family art projects for those who stop in.
Library staff are encouraging residents to visit their local branches to borrow books, movies, board games, puzzles or video games and to spend time together celebrating Family Day. Officials say the goal is to make libraries welcoming community spaces where families can connect, explore and enjoy activities together.
