The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is dealing with operational issues involving its hospital boiler system, resulting in fluctuating temperatures in some areas of the building and the cancellation of elective surgeries.
CKHA said the boiler system problems are also affecting the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, limiting the hospital’s ability to reprocess medical equipment. As a result, all elective surgeries scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, have been cancelled.
Hospital officials said they are continuing to closely monitor conditions and will provide updates as they become available. CKHA is working with external boiler service specialists who are on site to diagnose and resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible.
Every effort is being made to restore full service and maintain a comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff. CKHA thanked the public for its patience and understanding as repairs continue.
