Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A weapons investigation in Wallaceburg led to charges after reports of a firearm being discharged in a residential area.
Police were called to Wallace Street around 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 25 and learned a 31-year-old Wallaceburg resident had discharged a flare gun before leaving the area on foot. No injuries were reported.
Officers later located the individual at the corner of Murray and Wallace streets. Police say he was subject to a prohibition order banning possession of weapons and ammunition.
The accused was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner and possession contrary to a prohibition order. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 26.
