Suspended driver stopped during traffic stop in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A traffic stop in Chatham led to charges against a suspended driver on Jan. 27, 2026.

Police say officers conducted a traffic stop on Wellington Street West at about 4:52 p.m. During the investigation, officers determined the driver, a 70-year-old woman from Harwich Township, was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

The driver was charged with driving while under suspension and failing to surrender an insurance card. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was released at the scene and is scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2026.
