Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 31-year-old Chatham man is being held in custody after being arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a release order.
Chatham-Kent police say the accused had previously been charged with several criminal offences between August 2023 and March 2025 and was released by the court in June 2025 with conditions. Those conditions included residing with a surety at a Park Avenue West address and notifying police of any change of address within 24 hours.
On Jan. 21, 2026, members of the Bail Compliance and Warrant Apprehension Unit attempted to locate the man at the listed residence but were unsuccessful. As a result, a charge of failing to comply with a release order was laid and a warrant issued.
Police say the accused was located shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 31 during a disturbance call on Lorne Avenue in Chatham. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant and transported to the South West Detention Centre, where he remains in custody pending a video court appearance on Feb. 2, 2026.
