Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 34-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection with a theft investigation dating back to 2025.
Police say that on June 10, 2025, at approximately 6:34 p.m., officers responded to a reported theft at a retail store on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Investigators allege a woman entered the store, selected several items of merchandise, concealed them and left without attempting to pay.
Through surveillance footage, police identified a suspect and formed reasonable and probable grounds to charge the accused with two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Officers initially located and arrested the woman on St. Clair Street. She was transported to police headquarters, released, trespassed from the business and given a court date of Oct. 27, 2025. Police say she failed to attend court and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
On Feb. 12, 2026, at approximately 7:32 p.m., the accused was located on Park Street in Chatham and arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date.
