With heavy hearts we announce that on February 21, 2026, Roger Williams, a member of Walpole Island First Nation left us to be reunited with his beloved wife Marjorie Williams (nee Johnson) at the age of 77.
He will be forever remembered as a beloved father to Vanessa, Dean and the late Guy and Ian Williams and a cherished Mishoo to Ryan, Anna, Macey and great Mishoo to Stetson.
Son of the late Wallace Sr. and Marjorie (Johnson) Williams and dear brother of Webster, Michael and the late Muriel, Wayne, Wallace, Norman, Joanne and Kirby.
Roger was a lifelong hunter, trapper and commercial fisherman. He served his community for many years on Band Council and served as interim Chief several times. Many throughout the community will remember Roger from his involvement and support of many local sporting organizations including the Walpole Hawks Hockey, Niijii Women’s Baseball Team and the Friday Night Co-Ed Slo Pitch League.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Thursday, February 26 from 11am until the time of his funeral ceremony at 1pm. Burial beside his wife at Highbanks Cemetery will follow.
