Man held for bail after mischief at police headquarters

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 52-year-old man is in custody following an incident at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters.

Police said officers responded at approximately 8:15 p.m. on February 23, 2026, to a report of property damage inside the front lobby of the station on Grand Avenue West.

Investigators determined the accused attended the building in violation of a probation order that prohibited him from being there except in an emergency or during an arrest. While inside, he defaced a sign belonging to the police service.

The Chatham-Kent resident was later located on Grand Avenue West and arrested.

He has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order and mischief under $5,000. The accused is being held for bail.
