Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two men are facing charges following an attempted break-in in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded at approximately 12:33 a.m. on February 23, 2026, to a report of a break and enter on King Street West.
Police said two individuals attempted to force entry into a building and tried to pry open multiple doors before being interrupted by a complainant and fleeing the scene.
Through surveillance footage, officers identified a 37-year-old from Harwich Township and a 28-year-old from Chatham-Kent as suspects.
Both individuals were located on King Street West and arrested.
The 28-year-old was charged with mischief — destroys or damages property and possession of break-in instruments. The 37-year-old was charged with possession of break-in instruments.
Both accused were transported to police headquarters and later released with future court dates.
