From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
We live in a world where there are many diverse opinions about what the truth is.
Back when God’s people had crossed the Jordan River and entered into the Promised Land of Israel, they had no king leading them.
There were no laws of the land and no leader to guide them.
Look at what it says in Judges 17:6: “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.”
I’m pretty sure you can imagine what kind of chaos would ensue in a world where everyone just went and did their own thing.
Think about people today driving on our streets and highways and going whatever speed they want.
Can you imagine the magnitude of accidents that the police would have to deal with on a daily basis?
Even Pontius Pilate, the governor of Judea during the time of Christ’s earthly ministry, wondered about truth.
While questioning Jesus in his official residence he was told by Jesus in John 18:37: “Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Pilate then responded to our Lord with this now famous question, “What is truth?”
If he had spent any time in the three years that Jesus walked this earth he would have known that truth is rooted in the Saviour Himself.
Jesus once said to His followers in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” I challenge you today to read through the 4 gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Pray, and ask the Lord to lead you into truth.
