A new community art exhibition highlighting the region’s waterways opened March 2 at the Wallaceburg & District Museum Art Gallery.
The My Story Community Exhibition, titled “The Water Chapter,” runs through March 24 and features artwork and personal stories from residents across the region, including Dresden, Sombra and Walpole Island. The exhibition is presented by WATCH Citizen Science in partnership with the Wallaceburg & District Museum and the Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts.
Organizers say the show brings together artists, students and storytellers of all ages who have shared their perspectives and experiences with the Sydenham, Snye and St. Clair rivers.
“Every drop, every story, every person adds to the understanding of how water shapes who we are,” says Sherri-Anne Wills, Program Steward for WATCH Citizen Science. “This exhibition is filled with the voices and creativity of our community. It’s a reminder that when we share our stories, we also learn from one another.”
The exhibition encourages visitors to explore the artwork and reflect on their own connections to local waterways.
WATCH Citizen Science describes the program as a community initiative focused on the Sydenham, Snye and St. Clair River watersheds, encouraging people to observe and document their relationship with the natural environment through a blend of art, science and community engagement.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wallaceburg & District Museum Art Gallery. Organizers say the project aims to inspire curiosity, creativity and a shared responsibility for protecting local waterways.
