Woman charged with attempted murder after Wallaceburg stabbing

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is facing an attempted murder charge following a stabbing in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the Murray Street area on March 13. Due to the severity of the incident, the investigation was taken over by the service’s Major Crime Team with assistance from the General Investigations Unit and Community Patrol.

Police say investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect, determine the involvement of associated parties and secure key evidence related to the case.

On March 16, the accused was located with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police-led Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit and taken into custody. She is being held pending a bail hearing.

Police said the incident was isolated and that the victim and accused are known to each other.
