Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a charge after an alleged assault with a weapon in a residential building lobby, police said.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service says officers responded to an incident on Merritt Avenue on March 16, 2026, at about 5:35 p.m.
Investigators say the accused and a 30-year-old Chatham man became involved in an altercation, during which the accused allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head with a glass casserole dish.
The victim sustained injuries and was assessed by emergency medical services but declined further treatment.
Police say the accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He was transported to headquarters and later released with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16, 2026.
