Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Wheatley led to the seizure of suspected narcotics and related items.
Chatham-Kent police say officers on patrol observed a vehicle being operated erratically in the area of Middleton Line and Klondyke Road at approximately 1:38 a.m. on March 19, 2026. A traffic stop was conducted.
The driver, a 41-year-old man from Kingsville, was found to have an outstanding warrant and was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, police said. A 36-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent was also in the vehicle.
During the investigation, officers observed evidence consistent with drug trafficking. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine, along with digital scales, measuring cups, a cellular phone and packaging materials.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension and two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The passenger was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both accused were transported to police headquarters, where they were held for bail.
