Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 39-year-old Chatham man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant following an assault investigation dating back to 2025.
Chatham-Kent police say officers initially responded on Oct. 28, 2025, to an altercation in the area of Forsyth Street. The investigation found the accused and a 34-year-old male victim, both from Chatham, became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation outside a business on Wellington Street.
Police say the victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical assistance.
The accused was arrested at the time and charged with assault. He was later released with conditions and a scheduled court appearance on Dec. 9, 2025, which he failed to attend. Police say he was also found to be in breach of his court-ordered conditions, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On April 1, 2026, at approximately 12:06 p.m., police received information that the accused had been identified on the service’s Most Wanted List. He was located on Campbell Street in Chatham and arrested on the outstanding warrant.
He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of May 26, 2026.
