With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rufus “Josh” Daniel Williams, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, on April 4, 2026 at the age of 74.
Predeceased by his parents Allan and Gretchen Williams.
Rufus was a loving father to Jolene (Alan) Williams, Shando Williams, Nathan Williams and Tara-Lynn Williams.
He will be dearly missed by his 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Rufus was the brother of Alison Williams, Faith (Peter) Redmond, Adrian (Layne) Williams, David (Olivia) Williams, Vernon (Crystal) Williams, as well as the late Roxanne, Percival, Gregory, Fabian, and Edward.
Rufus loved to spend as much time outdoors as he could.
He worked as a hunting and fishing guide for various clubs in Walpole Island.
Rufus also enjoyed practicing his wood carvings.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231), on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4-7pm.
His funeral will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Walpole Island Sports Complex.
Interment to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
