Driver charged after suspended licence alert triggers traffic stop

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent Police Service say a 22-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after a traffic stop on King Street East.

Police say officers conducted the stop around 7:16 a.m. on April 8 after an automated licence plate recognition system flagged the driver as suspended.

The accused, a 22-year-old male from Chatham, was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited and driving under suspension.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of May 26, 2026.
