‘March Matchness’ campaign raises $194K for Wallaceburg hospital redevelopment & mammography services in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation says its March Matchness campaign has raised $194,402 in support of two key priorities at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The foundation said nearly 500 donations totalling $94,402 were made throughout March in support of enhanced mammography services at the Chatham site and the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg redevelopment campaign.

The total was boosted by $100,000 in matching funds from longtime donors Bob and Robin Hockney, with the pair ultimately contributing the full matching amount to bring the campaign’s total to $194,402.

“This was truly a community effort, and we are so proud of what we accomplished together in just one month,” said Christine Mitchell, CKHAF President & CEO. “Bob and Robin’s leadership created a powerful opportunity for people to give, and our community responded in an incredible way. The momentum we saw throughout March speaks volumes about the generosity and compassion that exists here in Chatham-Kent.”

The foundation said several larger contributions helped drive the campaign, including a $10,000 donation from 100 Women Who Care Chatham-Kent and $5,000 from the CKHA Helping Hands Auxiliary through proceeds from the Boutique Grand Gift Shop.

Funds directed toward mammography services will support access to updated breast imaging technology and early detection, while donations to the Wallaceburg redevelopment campaign will help advance plans to modernize the hospital site and expand care capacity.

“The success of March Matchness is something to celebrate, and it’s also a reminder that this important work continues,” Mitchell added. “There is still more to be done to ensure our hospital has the equipment, spaces, and resources needed to provide exceptional care. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this campaign such a success.”

The foundation said fundraising efforts for both initiatives are ongoing.
