Walpole Island First Nation to be featured on CBC’s Still Standing, filming set for June

Walpole Island First Nation will be featured in an upcoming episode of CBC’s Still Standing, a national television program that highlights the strength and resilience of small communities across Canada.

Community officials announced that filming will take place from June 18 to June 23, 2026, with production crews expected to be present throughout Bkejwanong during that time.

The show will include interviews with Walpole Island First Nation staff, elders, artists and other community members, showcasing local stories and perspectives.

A live taping is also planned at Bkejwanong Kinomaagewgamig, featuring host and comedian Jonny Harris. Organizers say the event will give residents an opportunity to take part in the production.

The filming schedule will coincide with the community’s annual Solstice Celebration, where the television crew is also expected to capture festivities.

Organizers say additional details will be released in the coming weeks.
