Chatham man arrested on warrant, charged with breaching court conditions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police located him in connection with an outstanding warrant and alleged breaches of court-ordered conditions.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officers found the man at about 2:46 a.m. on April 21 in the parking lot of a business on King Street West.

Police said the individual was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Further investigation determined he was also in breach of multiple court-ordered conditions, including a curfew and weapons prohibitions.

During a search incident to arrest, officers located a knife.

The accused has been charged with two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he is being held for a bail hearing.
