OPP officials allege: A 63-year-old Mississauga resident is facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
Ontario Provincial Police say the stop occurred at approximately 9:25 a.m. on April 24, when an officer pulled over a passenger vehicle travelling westbound on the highway.
Police allege the vehicle was travelling 153 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
As a result, the driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive motor vehicle — perform stunt — excessive speed, as well as failing to surrender an insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The individual’s vehicle was impounded for 14 days and their driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.
