St. Andrew’s Residence is celebrating 55 years of service to older adults, marking a milestone for the long-standing community organization.
The residence, which opened in 1972, has grown into a hub for seniors’ services, offering 70 retirement living suites, management support for 32 life-lease units, an Older Adult Day Program and Meals on Wheels services.
Guided by its not-for-profit mission, the organization says it continues to adapt to meet the changing needs of seniors while maintaining a focus on quality of life, safety and connection.
“Reaching 55 years is a significant milestone for our organization,” said Mindy Jenner. “It reflects the trust our community has placed in us and the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters who have helped shape St. Andrew’s into what it is today.”
To mark the anniversary, the residence will host a celebration on May 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its McGeachy building on Park Street in Chatham, bringing together residents, families, volunteers and community members.
As part of the milestone, the organization is also inviting voluntary contributions through a “$55 for 55 Years” initiative, with funds supporting programs and services for older adults in the community. Participation is optional.
St. Andrew’s Residence says the anniversary is both a reflection on its history and a commitment to continuing person-centred care for seniors in the years ahead.
