Judy Marie Soney of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2026 at 4:53 a.m. at the age of 86.
Born in September of 1939 in Ohsweken, Canada, to Josephine Staats and George Staats.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, David Soney Jr.
She is survived by her children: Diane (late Michael) Jacob, Sharon Ventry, Bobby Longboat (and his wife Janice), and Michelle and her husband Charles Robinson.
She was also a step mother to Shirley, David (Steph), the late Billy (and the late Michelle), Clifford (Dana), Lynn, P.J., Nancy (Phil), and the late Virginia (Brian).
Her siblings: Betty, Lois, Carol, Georgina, Barbara, Tommy, Michael, Wayne, Arthur, Randy, Gordy, Frank, and Delores. (She was one of 15 siblings.)
Her grandchildren: Tommy, Angela, Tony, Timmy, Anthony, Lance, and Daniel. Her great grandchildren: Riley Birmingham, Tyler, Makayla, Amelia, Madelyn, Ashley, London, Rowan, Maleigha, and Malcolm.
Her family extended far beyond blood: she was a grandmother to 73, a great grandmother to 72, and a great great grandmother to 6 — a family that grew vast because she welcomed every single person with open arms. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Judy was the kind of woman who showed up — whether in person, on the phone, or in prayer. Even when she could no longer travel, her love never stopped reaching across the miles. She was always, always there for her family.
She will be remembered for the fierce love of a mother wolf for her cub — a love that might not have always been seen, but was always going on behind the scenes, protecting, praying, and holding everyone together. She will be deeply missed.
