With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Foster Soney, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, on April 26, 2026 at the age of 86.
John is reunited with his beloved wife Carol Soney and his sons Colin and Jason.
He was the son of Ford and Amyline Soney. John was a loving father to Angela (Jeff) Williams and his grandchildren Keena, Kelsa (Bode), Jaela (Nigel), Jeffrey (Athena), and Missy (Scoob).
Great-grandfather to Taeyn, Bryce, Rhett, Kellan, Aria, Talia, Hudson, Leonidas, Myles, and Maddyx.
Brother to Nancy Williams and the late Harriet “Chick” Jacobs. John lived a full life, making many friends along the way through his painting business, duck hunting, golfing, pow wows, cottagers, and his daily visits to Papa’s Place for coffee.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231), on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 5-8pm.
His funeral will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Walpole Island Sports Complex.
