Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police say two people have been charged following a theft investigation involving a construction trailer.
Police said the incident occurred between 5 p.m. on April 21, 2026 and 2 p.m. on April 22, 2026, when suspects entered a locked construction trailer on Lacroix Street in Chatham and removed approximately $4,000 worth of Dewalt tools.
During the investigation, officers identified a residence on Alexandra Avenue connected to the incident. On April 29, 2026, at approximately 2:12 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at the address and located several of the stolen items.
As a result, a 47-year-old man and a 16-year-old male youth, both from Chatham, were arrested and charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
They were transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of July 30, 2026.
