Four charged after drugs, firearms seized in Chatham trafficking investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Four men are facing multiple charges after police seized drugs, firearms and ammunition during a drug trafficking investigation in Chatham.

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit, assisted by the Emergency Response Team, executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The warrants were carried out at a residence on McNaughton Avenue West and on a vehicle connected to the investigation.

Police said officers entered the residence at about 12:52 p.m. and arrested four individuals inside.

Investigators seized 217 grams of cocaine, 12.5 grams of fentanyl, a loaded Glock .40 calibre handgun with a prohibited overcapacity magazine, a loaded Glock 9mm handgun with a prohibited overcapacity magazine, a Glock handgun replica CO2 BB gun, a pellet gun, digital scales and Canadian currency.

Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs at approximately $24,200.

A 25-year-old Toronto man was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and eight counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

A 21-year-old Scarborough man was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, four counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, four counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A 22-year-old Scarborough man was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

All four accused were held in custody pending bail hearings.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service remains committed to identifying and disrupting individuals who traffic illegal drugs within our community,” police said in a release. “We are aware that some individuals involved in drug trafficking travel from outside jurisdictions to operate in Chatham-Kent. Our service will continue to dedicate significant investigative and enforcement resources to prevent and deter this activity.”

“Drug trafficking and the presence of illegal firearms pose a significant risk to public safety,” police added. “The combination of illicit drugs and weapons increases the likelihood of violence, addiction, and harm within our community. The seizure of illicit drugs and loaded firearms in this investigation underscores the very real dangers associated with these activities. The Chatham-Kent Police Service will continue working proactively to keep our community safe and to hold those engaged in criminal activity accountable.”
