Community Living Wallaceburg is inviting the public to help mark a milestone anniversary next week as the organization celebrates 70 years of service in Wallaceburg and surrounding Chatham-Kent communities.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the organization will host an open house from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at its 939 and 1100 Dufferin Avenue locations, offering an afternoon of connection, reflection and celebration.
Supervisor of communications and fund development Patricia Peters said the event is meant to give community members a closer look at the organization’s history and people.
“We’re encouraging the community to meander through both office locations and meet some of our incredible staff who bring the organization’s mission to life every day. We’re giving visitors a hands-on experience to explore our archives – scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, and decades of photographs. There’s every possibility a picture of you or someone you know is in our archives.” Peters said.
She added that individuals supported by the organization will also be present to share their experiences.
“We want the people who made this celebration a reality to share their own stories and reflections with us as well!” Peters said.
Community Living Wallaceburg has spent seven decades supporting individuals with disabilities, with a focus on inclusion, independence and community connection.
For the organization, the anniversary is intended not only as a look back, but also as a recognition of ongoing work and partnerships that continue to shape its services in the region.
Community members, families, partners and friends, past and present, are encouraged to attend the open house.
Community Living Wallaceburg co-creates, designs and delivers supports that aim to empower people to overcome barriers and live the life they choose, stating that with the support of those around them, people can “dream, believe, overcome and achieve.”
