Ontario author Mike Paterson says his newly released book, Invisible Giant, offers a perspective on Sasquatch research that differs from anything currently in print. The work documents nearly 18 years of firsthand experiences and ongoing fieldwork, focusing on long‑term interaction rather than isolated sightings.
Paterson spoke with us shortly after reports of recent sightings near Dresden. He said the timing of the book’s release, just days after those local accounts, has renewed public interest in the subject.
He explained that the book raises broader questions about why the phenomenon remains unverified within conventional scientific frameworks. Instead of centring on brief encounters, the work explores patterns of sustained activity and the possibility that current methods of observation may not be adequate to understand what people are experiencing.
The book also includes discussion of Indigenous perspectives and how traditional knowledge may offer insight into a topic that has long existed on the margins of mainstream research.
Paterson has provided audio recordings and photographs connected to his fieldwork. The audio can be heard at the end of the interview, and links to the book, his website and the full conversation are available for those who want to explore the material further.
