One person missing after water emergency at Pinery Provincial Park

OPP officials allege: Members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police continue to assist in an ongoing investigation following a water emergency at Pinery Provincial Park in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.

Police said officers responded to the park on May 18, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m. after receiving reports of a raft carrying five individuals experiencing distress in Lake Huron.

According to police, two individuals were able to safely swim to shore, while two others returned to the raft. One individual remains outstanding.

Lambton OPP, with assistance from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, continues coordinated search efforts in the area.

Police said there are currently no concerns for public safety.

Members of the public can expect to see an increased police and emergency services presence in the area while emergency crews remain on scene.

“Out of respect for everyone involved and the ongoing investigation, limited information is being released at this time,” police said in a media release.

Police said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Lambton OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where callers may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
