Chatham man charged following intimate partner violence incident

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police say a 26-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence incident in Chatham.

Police say officers were dispatched to a Wellington Street residence at about 9:39 a.m. on May 19 after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding an unwanted person.

According to police, a man attended the residence and gained entry by pushing past the resident.

No injuries were reported.

The man was arrested and charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house, assault and forcible confinement.

Police say he was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released on a Form 10 with a future court date of July 8, 2026.
