The Ontario government is providing an additional $5 million to expand a program aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses adopt digital technologies, improve productivity and increase sales and revenue.
The funding will expand the Digital Competence Centre (DCC), a provincewide initiative delivered in partnership with the Ontario Centre of Innovation, and is expected to support nearly 450 businesses as they modernize operations and adopt new digital tools.
The province says the program helps businesses access matched funding and hands-on support to invest in technology upgrades, including systems that improve operations, cybersecurity and customer management, while supporting job creation and long-term growth.
“Our government is making targeted investments to help small businesses succeed in a rapidly evolving digital economy,” said Nina Tangri. “By expanding the Digital Competence Centre, we are giving Ontario entrepreneurs the tools, resources and expertise they need to compete and succeed in today’s increasingly competitive marketplace.”
Since launching in 2022, the program has supported more than 800 grants across Ontario, which the province says have helped generate up to $600 million in increased sales revenue and support roughly 3,000 jobs.
“The Digital Competence Centre is helping Ontario businesses turn digital adoption into measurable economic growth,” said Claudia Krywiak. “Through investments in modernization, automation, AI adoption, and digital transformation, Ontario companies are improving productivity, increasing revenues, creating jobs and strengthening their long-term competitiveness. OCI is proud to continue delivering programming that helps businesses across the province scale, innovate and succeed.”
The investment is part of the 2026 Ontario Budget and builds on $20 million previously committed to the program.
