The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario is returning to Sarnia-Lambton this Friday, bringing together law enforcement officers, athletes and community members in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities across the province.
The Lambton County OPP detachment is inviting residents to take part in or cheer on participants as they make their way through the community during the annual event.
The run will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Waterfront Park parking lot under the Bluewater Bridge in Point Edward. Participants will travel east on Michigan Avenue, south on Colborne Road and west on Errol Road before finishing at 720 Christina Street in Sarnia, where a barbecue celebration will follow.
“Please join our local law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes as we come together to support an amazing organization. You can run, rollerblade, bike, or cheer to show your support.” – Lambton County OPP Provincial Constable & Lambton County OPP LETR Liaison – Amy O’KEEFE
The annual Torch Run raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario programs. Donations will be accepted during the event or online through the organization’s fundraising platform.
