Stella Janssens

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Stella Jean Janssens on June 14, 2026, just days after celebrating her 72nd birthday.

A devoted wife to Dale Joseph for 47 years, a loving mother to Amanda (John), and the ever joyful “Crazy Grandma” to Cooper, Stella’s presence was a source of laughter, strength, and unwavering love.

Born and raised in Wallaceburg, Stella remained a proud lifelong resident. She now reunites with her parents, George and Lola (Maul) Thomas, and her cherished siblings Michael, Floyd, David, Gordon, and Brenda. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Maryann (Joe) and Candy, her brother and sister-in-law Chris and Lynn, her many nieces and nephews, and treasured friends—especially Robin, whose friendship was a constant in her life.

Stella also held a special place in the hearts of John’s family, who loved her dearly and shared many travels, celebrations, and meaningful moments with her. Their bond brought Stella great joy, and she cherished being welcomed so fully into their lives.

She was equally blessed by the love of Nicole, Amanda’s lifelong friend, whom Stella embraced like a daughter. Nicole’s steady presence, support, and devotion—especially during this difficult time—have been a great comfort to the family and a reflection of the deep connection she and Stella shared.

Stella was a woman of remarkable strength and determination, meeting every challenge with courage until God called her home. Those who knew her will remember her love of annual trips to Las Vegas, her joy in hosting summer pool parties in her backyard oasis, and the renewed happiness she found in RV camping with Dale, Amanda, John, Cooper, and friends at the Homestead Trailer Park. She also treasured her camping adventures with her cousins Joyce and Dean, creating memories filled with laughter and companionship.

She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful gardens, her lively spirit, and her deep love of music—all reflections of the vibrant life she lived.

Stella’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the third-floor rehab and continuing care staff at CKHA, especially Heather, Amie, Ashley, Jen, and Sarah, for their compassion and dedication. Special thanks are also extended to home care nurse Jill and Karine of LHSC for their years of support and care.

Honouring Stella’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held under the care of the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, from 1-6 at the family residence – 705 Albert Street, Wallaceburg to honour Stella’s beautiful spirit and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Please RSVP by July 3rd to Amanda at amanda.yeaman@rogers.com Donations in Stella’s memory may be made to the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society at (https://www.cois-scoi.ca/donations).
