The Wallaceburg branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library has released its 2026 summer programming schedule, featuring a range of activities for children, families and community members.
Programming begins with summer reading registration on June 26 during regular library hours, launching the CKPL Summer Reading Club.
Weekly “Mindfulness Mondays” will run from July 6 to August 31, offering drop-in activities designed to promote relaxation and calm for all ages.
Family-focused programming includes a Baby and Toddler Rave on July 8 featuring glow sticks, disco lights and kid-friendly music for children aged four and under, along with a slime-making workshop titled “Ocean Slime” on July 10, where participants can create ocean-themed slime with assorted decorations.
STEM-based activities include “Code Chaos!” on July 14, where participants ages 8 to 16 will work through challenges using Bee-Bots and Snap Circuits.
Creative programming includes “KPOP Demon Hunter Party” on July 21 featuring themed music and crafts, and “DIY Tote Bag Decorating” on July 23, where participants can design reusable tote bags.
On July 28, the library will host “Summer BINGO” with prizes and activities for all ages.
August programming includes “Cardboard Creations – Chomp Saw Program” on August 4, encouraging participants to build projects using cardboard templates, followed by “WAMBO Fun at the Library” on August 8, featuring LEGO activities, crafts and a scavenger hunt during the downtown WAMBO festivities.
A musical performance featuring Wallaceburg musician Qu! is scheduled for August 11, offering an interactive, audience-participation-focused show.
On August 12, participants can take part in “Taskmaster,” a challenge-based program inspired by the British television series and adapted for library-friendly activities.
Later in the month, “Sew Your Own Freezie Holder” will run on August 20, where participants will hand-sew and decorate reusable holders designed for frozen treats.
A weekly Knitting and Crochet Club will also take place every Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., offering opportunities to learn, share patterns and work on fibre arts projects.
Most programs require registration, while some are drop-in events.
