OPP officials allege: A Windsor resident is facing multiple charges after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Lakeshore that left several people injured, including one child with life-threatening injuries.
Ontario Provincial Police and Windsor Essex EMS responded to the collision near County Road 27 at about 6:54 p.m. on June 21.
Police said both drivers and two child passengers were taken to hospital. One eight-year-old child and both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while a 10-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries.
A 32-year-old Windsor resident has been charged with impaired operation involving alcohol and drugs, operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
The accused was issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 30.
Highway 401 was temporarily closed following the collision but has since reopened.
