OPP officials allege: A 46-year-old London resident is facing impaired driving charges after an Ontario Provincial Police R.I.D.E. checkpoint in Warwick Township.
Lambton County OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere checkpoint at Nauvoo Road and Rachel Street shortly after 11:30 p.m. on June 21 when the arrest was made.
Police said the accused has been charged with operation while impaired with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis in open baggage under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act.
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Aug. 4.
OPP reminded the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 in emergencies or 1-888-310-1122 for non-emergency complaints.
