R.I.D.E. check in Plympton-Wyoming leads to impaired driving charges

OPP officials allege: An 18-year-old Plympton-Wyoming resident is facing impaired driving charges following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere checkpoint conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Lambton County OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on Egremont Road near Old Mill Road shortly after 1 a.m. on June 21 when the arrest was made.

Police said the accused has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and as a young driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero.

A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on July 27.

OPP reminded the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints involving impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
