Chatham-Kent police encourage prospective recruits to apply before Aug. 1 deadline

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is encouraging people interested in a career in policing to begin the application process now, saying prospective recruits should not wait until the last minute to apply.

Police said applicants seeking the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Certificate should be aware the process can take approximately 15 to 20 days to complete. The certificate also requires applicants to schedule and complete three medical assessments, including a vision assessment, hearing assessment and medical examination by a family practitioner.

The service said those appointments can take time to arrange and urged prospective applicants to plan ahead.

Police said anyone hoping to meet the Aug. 1 application deadline should begin the OACP Certificate process within the next two weeks.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is accepting online applications for cadet and constable positions through its website, here.
