The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a first-quarter payment of $473,709 to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham.
The payment, covering April 1 to June 30, brings the total Chatham-Kent has received since the casino opened in April 2001 to $21,855,969. OLG says the payments are based on a formula applied consistently across all gaming sites in the province, using a graduated scale tied to gaming revenue at each hosted site.
“Revenues from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement allow Chatham-Kent to invest in infrastructure and provide funding for critical community services,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “Provincial revenues from Cascades Casino Chatham will help improve the quality of life for families across Ontario.”
OLG says host communities across the province have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994, part of the corporation’s commitment to reinvest 100 per cent of its profits back into Ontario. Over the past decade, the Crown agency says private-sector investment tied to the gaming industry has topped $3 billion province-wide, leading to seven new casinos and numerous facility expansions.
