Chatham woman charged after alleged attempt to strike partner with vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have charged an 18-year-old Chatham woman after officers say she tried to strike her partner with a vehicle during an argument in Tilbury.

Officers responded to a report of an intimate partner violence incident on Gray Line in Tilbury at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Police said a verbal argument between two partners escalated when the accused attempted to strike her partner with her vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, during which they formed grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. The woman was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters for further testing.

She has been charged with assault with a weapon, operation while impaired by alcohol, dangerous operation, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

The woman was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on August 31, 2026.
