Wallaceburg man charged after breaking window, slapping woman during break-in

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after police say he broke into a Gillard Street residence and slapped a woman across the face.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a break and enter on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg at approximately 9:37 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Investigators learned a verbal argument had taken place between a male and a female, and the female asked the male to leave the residence. Police said the man later returned, broke a window to gain entry, and once inside, slapped the victim across the face.

He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering to commit assault.

The man was taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and later released on an undertaking with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 31, 2026.
