Feral to Forever is celebrating its first year of cat rescue work with a community fundraiser that brings together several local businesses in support of vulnerable cats.
The event, Purrs, Petals & Pastries, will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Purple Pansy in Chatham.
The fundraiser will feature gourmet cupcakes by Lisa Roberts Cakes Creations and fresh flower bouquets from The Purple Pansy, with a portion of proceeds from each sale supporting the volunteer-run rescue. A limited number of cupcakes and bouquets will also be available for purchase during the event.
Visitors are also encouraged to donate cat food, kitten food and clumping cat litter. Those who bring requested supplies will be entered into a prize draw donated by The Purple Pansy.
The event will also give attendees an opportunity to meet adoptable cats and kittens currently in the organization’s foster program.
Melissa Caron Photography has donated professional photography services to capture portraits of many of the rescue’s adoptable cats and kittens, with the goal of helping them find permanent homes.
The fundraiser coincides with Feral to Forever’s first anniversary. The organization said the milestone reflects the support it has received from volunteers, foster families, veterinary partners, local businesses, donors and community members over the past year.
The rescue is also launching a new website, donated by Elizabeth Suni, that will allow residents to view adoptable cats, apply to foster or volunteer, make donations and learn more about the organization’s work.
“One year ago, I never imagined how much support this community would show us,” said Kelly Johnson, founder of Feral to Forever. “Purrs, Petals & Pastries is more than a fundraiser. It’s a celebration of what we’ve accomplished together. We’re incredibly grateful to all our generous sponsors, our volunteers, foster families, and everyone who has helped us give so many cats a second chance.”
Feral to Forever is a foster-based cat rescue serving Chatham-Kent. Formerly operating as Kelly’s Cat Cab, the organization focuses on trap-neuter-return efforts, rescue, rehabilitation, foster care and adoption. Rather than operating a shelter, it places cats in foster homes while they recover and prepare for adoption.
