Municipal offices and most services in Chatham-Kent will be closed Monday, Aug. 3, in observance of the Civic Holiday.
Emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance, will continue to operate around the clock and remain available by calling 911 for emergencies. Cemetery staff will also remain on call for funeral homes requiring at-need lot sales or interment orders, while the municipality’s Homeless Response Line and nursing services at Riverview Gardens will continue to operate.
Several recreational facilities will remain open. The Blenheim and Thames Campus arenas will be available for scheduled rentals, while all indoor and outdoor municipal pools will operate as scheduled. Leaf and yard depots, along with waste transfer stations, will also remain open.
Arts and culture facilities, including the Chatham Capitol Theatre, Chatham-Kent Museum, Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace, will be closed for the holiday. The Chatham Cultural Centre will also be closed to the public, although its A-musing Summer Camp will continue to run throughout the week.
Chatham-Kent Public Library branches will be closed Monday, although online services will remain available. Public health, Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Fleet Services, Public Works administrative offices, the Provincial Offences Court, Tourism Chatham-Kent, ServiceOntario offices in Chatham and Dresden, Entegrus offices and the Public Utilities Commission’s McGeorge Building and Records Department will also be closed.
Ride CK transit services will not operate on Aug. 3.
Residents are also advised that curbside waste and recycling collection scheduled for Monday will be delayed by one day because of the holiday.
